Description

This is the Town Hall in Anno 1800. It improves your city by boosting the effectiveness of Residences and Public Service buildings throughout your world. In addition, these bonuses help you strengthen your population and services, and as a result, you can improve your city without expanding your layout. The Town Hall will provide benefits and productivity enhancements to any buildings that are in its range. The range of the Town Hall is 20 tiles and does not require roads to the buildings that it effects.

The Town Hall will supply these benefits to buildings in its range by the use of items that you can place in to its slots. When you place the Town Hall in Anno 1800, a circular overlay appears to show its range of influence. In addition, each building can only receive bonuses from one Town Hall at a time, so you cannot overlap their influence areas. As a result, you need to position each Town Hall carefully to maximise coverage without wasting space.

How it benefits buildings in its range

Lets take a look at what benefits it can give to buildings that are within its range. As we know from above the buildings that benefit from the Town Hall are residences and public buildings. Residences are buildings where your residents live and the public buildings are buildings like the Fire station, Hospitals, Schools, Police stations, Universities, and Churches amongst others. Lets first take a look at what benefits the residences can have in Anno 1800 from the Town Hall.

  • Increased number of residents per household.
  • Happiness increased .
  • Increased income.
  • Workforce increased.
  • Reduced consumption.
  • Additional needs fulfilled.

Next we will look at what benefits the Town Hall can offer public buildings.

  • Increase service range
  • Reduce maintenance costs.
  • Improve service effectiveness (Fire prevention, Riot prevention).
  • Add special effects (reduced chance of illness, faster response times for services).
  • Boost attractiveness.

Using the Town Hall

In this section we will look at how you use the Town Hall in Anno 1800. Like the Trade Union discussed earlier, the Town Hall works by letting you place items into its three available slots. In addition, these items immediately boost the Residences and Public Service buildings within its range. Firstly, when you place the Town Hall, you don’t need to connect it to any roads for it to function. Secondly, the Town Hall only provides benefits once you equip it with items found throughout your world. As a result, choosing the right items becomes essential for maximising its impact.

You place items into the Town Hall’s slots to activate its effects, just like with the Trade Union. As you add items, each one immediately applies its bonuses to every Residence and Public Service building within range. The Town Hall normally offers three item slots, but you can expand this to four by enabling the Open Minds Act palace policy. Once this policy is active, the extra slot becomes available immediately. Furthermore, the Town Hall supports a huge variety of items, giving you plenty of flexibility when shaping your city’s bonuses. As a result, you can tailor each Town Hall to match the specific needs of the district it serves

Layouts

In this section, we’ll look at a layout option for the Town Hall. Since the Town Hall isn’t part of any production chain, you won’t find as many layout variations as you would for industrial buildings. Even so, it still helps to understand how to position it effectively. Moreover, learning how to place it well ensures you get the most value from its influence range. With that in mind, let’s take a look at a practical layout example:

Option 1

In this layout, we place a single Town Hall at the centre and then build Residences around it to take full advantage of its range. Moreover, this simple setup makes it easy to see how the Town Hall boosts nearby homes right from the start. As a result, it’s an ideal example for understanding how to position your first Town Hall effectively

Layout for the Town Hall in Anno 1800

As we can see here all of the residences are covered by the Town Hall. This will enable you to add items to the Town Hall that have a positive effect on the residences in its influence range.
