In addition, the Oil Refinery must be supported by Oil Wells. Oil Wells extract the Oil from the ground and send it directly to the Refinery. Once the Refinery receives the Oil in Anno 1800, it passes it along through the railway network so it can be transported to wherever it is needed.

Once the Refinery is placed, the next step is adding Oil Wells. You place each Oil Well directly on top of an Oil Deposit, and the Oil will automatically flow from the Wells to the Refinery without any extra setup.

In this section, we will look at the best layouts for the Oil Refinery. To start with, it’s important to place the Refinery so it can cover four Oil Wells, as this is the ideal number for safe and efficient production.
If there are more Oil Deposits in the area, the next step is to place additional Oil Refineries to make sure every deposit is used. This keeps your Oil production steady and prevents bottlenecks later in the game.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at this layout now.
Option 1
In this layout we will be placing down the Oil Refinery along with three Oil Wells
This is a basic layout that produces 12 tons of Oil per minute. To start with, each Oil Well produces one ton of Oil every 15 seconds, which adds up to four tons per minute.
Since this layout uses three Oil Wells, we simply multiply the output by three, giving a total of 12 tons of Oil per minute.
Overall, this makes the layout efficient, easy to build, and perfect for early Oil setups.
Option 2
In this next layout we will be placing down two Oil refineries along with six Oil Wells.
