Producing Sausages in Anno 1800 is a straight forward chain that turns pigs into sausages, fulfilling a vital need for your population. In addition, Sausages can serve as extra rations during expeditions. As a result, they provide a morale boost of +20, helping your crews stay motivated and perform better on their journeys.
What is produced
In Anno 1800, sausages are a key food for the Worker and Artisan categories of your population. To begin with, you must set up the sausage production chain to keep a plentiful supply. Next, this chain requires two buildings: a Pig Farm and a Slaughterhouse. Once built, the Pig Farm raises pigs, and the Slaughterhouse processes them into sausages. For this reason, it is important to maintain enough of both buildings to meet demand. Otherwise, your population will decline, and your income will drop as a result.

Buildings in this chain.
This is the production chain for making Sausages in Anno 1800. To begin with, the chain is simple and requires only two buildings: a Pig Farm and a Slaughterhouse. Next, the Pig Farm produces pigs, which are sent directly to the Slaughterhouse. As a result, one ton of pigs is converted into sausages every minute. Therefore, these two buildings form a perfect match, ensuring a steady supply of food for your population.
| Building | No. needed | Building costs |

| Pig farm | 1 | $500 credits 4 timber -40 maintenance 30 farmers -3 attractiveness |
| Slaughterhouse | 1 | $500 credits 4 timber 5 bricks -80 maintenance 50 workers -5 attractiveness |

Pig farm

The Pig farm in Anno 1800 kicks in to play at the worker stage. For your workers and artisans to flourish it is imperative that they have a good supply of sausages. To begin this build you will have to build the Pig farm. The Pig farm has a layout that will incorporate the farm itself along with five pig styes that the pigs will live in. The Pig farm will produce one ton of pigs every minute.
To build a Pig farm, you will need the following:
- $500 credits
- 4 timber
- 3×4 tile space plus five 2×3 tile spaces for the pig farms.
In addition to the construction costs you will also have the following ongoing costs:
- 30 farmers
- $40 credits per minute maintenance.
Once these conditions are met, the farm will begin producing one ton of pigs every minute. As a result, you’ll have a steady supply to keep your production chains running smoothly.

These are the layouts for the Pig Farms. To begin with, a single layout shows how one farm can be arranged with its fields. When creating two farms, it is best to place them side by side so their layouts lock together. As a result, it becomes easier to build roads and pathways around them. In addition, this arrangement makes it simpler to position Slaughterhouses and Warehouses nearby, ensuring the production chain runs efficiently. This layout also makes it easier to copy when your population increases.

- Function – produces pigs that can be set to slaughter house or for soap production.
- Placement -pig farms can be placed anywhere. Ensure that you have room for the five pig styes that are required.
- Production rate – the pig farm will produce one ton of pigs every minute.
- Efficiency tips – place all the styes down and lace next to slaughter house for efficiency.
Slaughterhouse

Firstly, the Slaughterhouse takes pigs from the Pig Farm and converts them into Sausages for your Workers and Artisans. Next, you should place the Slaughterhouse close to the Pig Farm so the pigs can be processed quickly and efficiently. In addition, the Slaughterhouse produces one ton of sausages every minute. For this reason, on a standard layout without Trade Unions or electricity, you should build one Slaughterhouse for every Pig Farm available.
To build the slaughterhouse, you will need the following:
- $500 credits
- 4 timber
- 5 bricks
- 3×4 tile space
In addition to the construction costs, you will also face ongoing expenses to keep the buildings running:
- 50 workers
- $80 credits per minute maintenance
Once these conditions are met, the Slaughterhouse reliably produces one ton of sausages every minute. As a result, your production chain maintains a steady supply. In addition, this consistency helps prevent bottlenecks and keeps sausage production running smoothly.

- Function – the Slaughterhouse will turn pigs into Sausages.
- Placement – the Slaughterhouse can be placed anywhere but is best placed close to the pig farm.
- Production rate – the Slaughterhouse produces one ton of sausages every minute.
- Efficiency tips – place near to the Pig farm and a Warehouse for maximum efficiency.
Technology tree
This is the technology tree is for producing Sausages in Anno 1800. Here we can see that the Pig farm will produce the pigs that will then be sent to the |Slaughterhouse which will process the pigs into Sausages. Please be aware that the soap factory also uses pigs in its tech tree to create soap.

Layout
This is a simple layout for producing Sausages in Anno 1800. Here we see two Pig farms connected to two Slaughterhouses. The Pig farm and the Slaughterhouse both take one minute to process each. This means that you will need to place one of each for maximum productivity. Here is the best early game layout for producing sausages for your workers and artisans.

Improving the productivity.
On achieving workers you will find that you can now build a Trade union. Trade unions can be used for numerous things in Anno 1800. They boost productivity, buildings within the unions radius and do not need roads to receive the benefit. As a building can only be affected by one Trade union at a time it is essential that you do not overlap in your design stage.
Here is a build that incorporates a Trade Union to give these buildings an extra boost. When managing the Sausage production chain, the entire setup can be improved by placing a Trade Union nearby. In this design, we see eight Pig Farms and eight Slaughterhouses connected together and then linked to Warehouses. As a result, the flow of goods is optimized so that pigs move directly to the Slaughterhouses and then on to the Warehouses. In addition, this arrangement ensures efficiency and prevents delays in production. Finally, the increase in productivity will depend on which cards are assigned to the Trade Union.

If we look at the bottom row of Slaughterhouses that are not directly opposite from the Pig farms. The reasons for this is so that it falls under the radius of the Trade union and the benefits that it gives.

Using electricity
Pig farm

Unlike many other production buildings in Anno 1800, the Pig farm does not receive any productivity boost when connected to an electrical network. Electricity has no effect on the farm’s output, meaning that pigs will continue to be produced at the same rate regardless of whether the farm is within range of a power plant.
Slaughterhouse

When the Slaughterhouse receives electricity, productivity will immediately double. However, this increase in output also creates a new challenge: in order to maintain balance within the production chain, you must simultaneously expand your Pig farms. Therefore, whenever electricity is introduced to boost Slaughterhouse efficiency, it becomes necessary to double the number of farms as well. As a result, the overall system remains synchronized, ensuring that production can be kept at its maximum potential without bottlenecks.
