Description

This is the Brewery in Anno 1800. It sits at the end of the Beer production chain. Before the Beer reaches this point, the Brewery receives malt from the Malthouse and hops from the Hop Farms. Once both ingredients arrive, the Brewery uses one ton of malt and one ton of hops to produce one ton of Beer. Each batch takes 1 minute to complete, making the Brewery the final and essential step in Beer production in Anno 1800.

What it produces

The brewery in Anno 1800 produces beer. One ton of beer can supply 130 Worker residences or 65 Artisans residences. For expeditions beer gives 10 bonus for diplomacy and 40 bonus for morale for every 50 tons taken with you.

Beer is a luxury need for both Workers and Artisans. Because it’s a luxury, your population doesn’t need it to survive, so you can skip it early on if you need to. However, providing beer will make your residents happier. On top of that, supplying beer increases your income, making it a useful good to produce once your city is stable.

Improvements

In this section, we’ll look at the improvements you can make to the Brewery in Anno 1800 to increase its productivity and efficiency. To start, we’ll focus on the best placement for the Brewery to keep the production chain running smoothly. After that, we’ll explore the Trade Union items you can use to boost its output even further. Finally, we’ll look at how adding electricity can provide a major late game upgrade to your Beer production chain.

Placement

One of the most effective ways to improve the Brewery in Anno 1800 is through careful placement. To begin with, it’s important to position the Brewery so that it stays close to the buildings that supply it. By doing this, Malt and Hops can reach the Brewery quickly, reducing travel time and keeping production steady. In addition, you should also consider where the finished Beer will be delivered. When all parts of the chain are placed efficiently, the entire production process becomes faster and more reliable.

Here we can see the run through from one building to another. This will give a good layout for production. You must remember that this is not a layout but it is but shows you the buildings that you will require. In this chain, hops flow directly into the Brewery, while grain is first processed in the Malthouse before being sent on to the Brewery. Once the beer is brewed, it moves into the Warehouse and then into your inventory, ready to supply your population.

Trade union

The Trade Union is a building that allows you to add items that boost the performance of structures within its influence range. To begin with, you can equip items that specifically improve the Brewery in Anno 1800. In addition, there are general items that benefit all production buildings inside the radius. By choosing the right combination, you can significantly increase efficiency and keep your beer production running at its best.

Electricity

When you reach the Engineer level, you unlock the ability to power buildings with electricity. Once you connect electricity to the Brewery in Anno 1800, its production speed doubles. However, this also means the Brewery will use ingredients twice as quickly. To keep up, you’ll need to increase the supply of both hops and grain so the Brewery can run at full speed.

Layouts

In this section, we’ll look at the layouts that work best for the Brewery in Anno 1800. To begin with, the Brewery is part of a more complex production chain. Because it needs at least six buildings to run at full efficiency, you must plan your layout carefully. On top of that, the buildings that supply it, like Hop Farms and Grain Farms, require the right island fertilities. For this reason, choosing a suitable island and arranging your production chain thoughtfully is key to keeping beer production running smoothly.

Option 1

In this layout, we can build the simplest version of the Brewery in Anno 1800. First, you need to make sure the island has all the required fertilities. To check this, hover your cursor over the island, and the fertility icons will appear in the top right corner of the screen.

Because the Brewery depends on several farms, the overall layout is quite large. For this reason, you’ll need plenty of space to fit the Grain Farms, Hop Farms, and supporting buildings needed to keep production running smoothly.

Brewery in Anno 1800 basic layout

This layout will produce two tons of beer per minute. As a result, it can support around 250 Worker residences or 130 Artisan residences. Because of this, it’s a reliable early‑game setup for keeping your population supplied with Beer.

Option 2

In this layout, we’re assuming the island does not have hop fertility. Because of that, you’ll need to bring hops in from your other islands. The Trading Post is placed on the left, while the other buildings and farms sit to the right. In this setup, ships deliver hops to the Trading Post, where they are unloaded. From there, the hops go straight to the Brewery to keep production running. This straightforward flow keeps your supply chain organised and efficient.

Brewery layout without Hops

This layout will produce two tons per minute. So this layout will support around 250 Workers or 130 Artisan residences.
