Description

The Brick Factory is a building that turns clay into bricks in Anno 1800. To start, it serves as the final step in the brick making process. Once you reach the Worker level, the Brick Factory unlocks and you can use it immediately.

When placing the building, you need to put it either next to a Clay Pit or near a Warehouse that can supply clay. Because of this, your placement options are somewhat limited. In terms of production, the Brick Factory uses one ton of clay to create one ton of bricks every 60 seconds.

What is produced

These are bricks in Anno 1800. Bricks are used in most buildings in the mid to late game. One of the key areas that bricks are needed is the laying of paved roads. Paved roads have a massive benefit for the transportation around your islands. Bricks have no specific benefit for taking on expeditions.

Improvements

The main improvements for the Brick Factory in Anno 1800 come from where you place it and the items you add to the Trade Union. In addition, once you reach the Engineer level, you can supply the factory with electricity. When you do this, the Brick Factory becomes even more efficient, giving you a strong boost in producing bricks in Anno 1800.

Placement

The placement of the Brick Factory will really be decided by two factors. The first being that the placement will have to be dictated by where the Clay pits are located. When looking at placing down the Brick Factory you can place them by the clay pit. This will mean that the bricks can then be transported straight to a Warehouse and be available sooner. If we are going the other way you can place the Brick factory by a Warehouse away from the clay pit. This will mean that the clay can come out of the Warehouse to the brick factory and then back into the Warehouse.

Trade union

To improve the Brick factory you can place items into a Trade union that cover the factory. Here are some of the items available.

Electricity

The Brick factory in Anno 1800 can be improved by the use of electricity. The output will double when electricity is added to the layout. Remember that when you add electricity you will need to ensure that you double the clay input. One way around this is to only have one brick factory when you are using electricity. This will then balance the layout better.

Layouts

Lets now take a look at some layouts for the brick factory. These layouts will assist in maximising the production in your Anno 1800 world.

Option 1

The first option is to place two Brick Factories next to the Clay Pit. This is necessary because the Clay Pit produces one ton of clay every 30 seconds, while each Brick Factory takes 1 minute to turn that clay into bricks. By matching these timings, two factories will keep up with the clay supply.

In addition, this layout includes a Warehouse nearby. With the Warehouse so close, the finished bricks enter your inventory faster, keeping your Brick production chain running smoothly

With this build it will provide one ton of bricks every 30 seconds or two tons a minute.

Option 2

The next option is to place a Warehouse directly beside the Clay Pit. By doing this, the clay goes straight into storage as soon as it’s produced. After that, you can place another Warehouse anywhere else on the island. From this second Warehouse, the clay can be transported to any Brick Factory you build nearby.

Overall, this layout shows that you don’t need to place every building around the Clay Pit. Instead, you can spread out your Brick production chain while still keeping everything running efficiently.
