This is the Glassmakers in Anno 1800 that is an essential building in the Windows production chain. The Glassmakers sits in the middle of chains with the Glassmakers sitting after the Sand Mine. The Glassmakers will require one Sand Mine for the every Glassmakers that you have. This will give you a perfect layout with the Glassmaker producing Glass at the rate of one ton every 30 seconds or two tons per minute.

Improvements

Here we will look at what we can do to improve the functionality of the Glassmakers. The next option that we can do is place a Glassmakers in the influence range of Trade union. The final thing that we can do is add electricity.

Placement

When placing a Glassmakers down it is important that you place it close to a Sand Mine. You will also need to ensure that you can send the Glass on to the next production building that you require.

Basic placement for Glassmaker in Anno 1800

Here we can see that the Glassmaker is placed as close to the Sand mine as possible and next to a Warehouse. This will mean that you get Glass into your inventory as quickly as possible. Also as the Sand mine is placed in a harbour the Warehouse can also be used to ship Sand to the Glassmakers if its a long way away.

Trade union

The Trade Union is a building that you need to place down and then it will give benefits and efficiency to any buildings that are within its range. The Trade Union on its own does not do anything in itself as you will need to place items into its slots that can then influence buildings placed around it. You can get these items from many places around the map that include NPC’s that sell Trade Union items, and from expeditions, quests and World events along with Looting and Combat. Here we will look at some of the items that the Glassmaker can benefit from.

These are the some of the items that you can add to the Trade Union to increase the productivity and efficiency of the Glassmaker.

Electricity

Here we will look at the benefits that electricity can add to the Glassmaker. When adding electricity to the Glassmakers it will double the output of Glass in Anno 1800. Be aware that when you do this you will have to increase the input as well.

Layout

Here we will look at layouts for the Glassmakers that will describe the best placement of the building.

Option 1

In this layout we will be placing the Glassmaker close to the Sand Mine this will mean that the sand will go straight into the Glassmaker to start production. We will also place a Warehouse close by so that the Glass enters your inventory as quickly as possible.

Here we can see that the flow of goods goes from the Sand Mine via a road into the Glassmakers and then straight into the Warehouse.

Option 2

Here we can see a similar layout to the one above. The main difference here is that the Glassmaker and the Warehouse will be placed further away. This is to show a layout where you can’t place the Glassmaker next to the Sand Mine.

Glassmaker with Sand mine and Warehouses in Anno 1800

As we can see in this layout the Sand Mine leads into the Warehouse, this then enters your inventory and the Sand is then available to go to the Glassmakers. The next step then in this layout is that the Sand will leave the second Warehouse and go into the Glassmakers and then the Glass will go back into the Warehouse and into your inventory. Another bonus of this layout is that you can place a Trade union for both of the main buildings in the layout.

Option 3

Here we will take the first layout and add on a Trade Union so that we can increase the productivity and efficiency. When looking at this layout you can see that the Trade Union covers both buildings so you will have to be careful when placing items into the Trade Union are for the correct building.

This layout does not have any overlap from the Trade Union. This means that all the items for the Trade Union can be for the Glassmaker. When copying this layout you can use the Trade Union in a number of ways. You can use it just to supply the Glassmaker or you can use it to influence other buildings in its range.
