Description
In this section, we’ll look at the Lumberjack Hut in Anno 1800, one of the first buildings you place in the early game. Right from the start, the Lumberjack Hut plays a key role by supplying your Sawmill with wood.
When placing the hut, it’s best to position it in a wooded area. By doing this, the Lumberjack Hut can begin harvesting wood immediately and send it straight to either the Sawmill or a Warehouse, depending on your setup.
However, if you place the hut in an area without trees, you’ll need to wait for new trees to grow before production begins. Because of this, it’s important to remember that the Lumberjack Hut requires a large surrounding area for planting and harvesting trees.
What is produced
Wood plays an important role throughout the entire game in Anno 1800. From the very beginning, you rely on it as a core material for most of the buildings you construct.
As you progress, wood becomes even more valuable because it supports a wide range of production chains. In the Old World, it’s used for everything from basic timber to advanced goods like steam carriages. Meanwhile, in the New World, wood helps produce key items such as rum and cigars.
Additionally, wood provides useful bonuses during expeditions, giving +10 Crafting and +20 Morale bonus, which can make a noticeable difference in your success.

Improvements
In this section, we’ll look at the different benefits you can bring to the Lumberjack Hut in Anno 1800. To begin, this includes choosing the best placement for the hut as well as selecting items for the Trade Union that boost its efficiency.
By positioning the hut effectively, you ensure faster harvesting and smoother delivery to nearby production buildings. Additionally, the right Trade Union items can significantly increase productivity, reduce forest density requirements, and improve overall output.
Together, these improvements help you get the most out of every Lumberjack Hut in your settlement.
Placement
In this section, we’ll look at how to place the Lumberjack Hut in Anno 1800 to improve its efficiency. In the example below, the Lumberjacks hut sits in the centre, while the Sawmill is positioned just outside the huts tree planting radius.
With this setup, any tree that gets cut down is delivered straight into the Sawmill without delay. From there, the Sawmill processes the logs into timber and sends the finished goods to the Warehouse placed nearby.
Overall, this layout creates a smooth, efficient flow from tree harvesting to timber production.

Trade union
Here, we’ll look at a few items you can add to the Trade Union to improve how your Lumberjack Hut performs. To begin, these items can increase productivity, lower maintenance costs, or speed up tree harvesting.
While there are many choices, the examples below focus on some of the best items for boosting your early game wood production.
| Item name | Effects | Rarity/notes |
|---|---|---|
| Forestry specialists | 40-60% Productivity | Epic/Legendary |
| Industrial botanists | Reduce forestry density requirements | |
| Agriculturalist type items | ~12–20% Smaller boosts | Uncommon |
| Aldea, the forest warden | Improves productivity and reduces the need for dense forests | Uncommon |
Layouts
Here, we’ll look at a couple of layouts that help you produce wood and timber more efficiently. To start, each layout keeps transport routes short so your Sawmill receives a steady supply of logs.
By following these examples, you can set up reliable early game production that keeps your wood and timber flowing without interruptions.
Option 1
In this first layout we will show an efficient way for you to produce logs, In this layout you can see that the Lumberjacks hut leads directly into the Warehouse.

This layout will produce a ton of logs every 15 seconds or four tons every minute.
Option 2
In the second layout we can see that we are producing timber. This layout uses two Lumberjack huts along with two Sawmills and a Warehouse. The logs will go directly to the sawmill to produce timber. The timber will then go into the Warehouse and become available for building.

This layout will produce two tons of timber every 15 seconds or eight tons per minute.
Option 3
Here we will be producing both timber and logs. We will be placing down two Lumberjack huts and one Sawmill along with a Warehouse. This will mean that one of the Lumberjacks huts will deliver to the Sawmill and the other will deliver logs to the Warehouse.

The production rates for this layout are one ton of logs every 15 seconds or four tons per minute. One ton of timber every 15 seconds or four tons per minute.
