Description

This is the Rum Distillery, it is used to produces Rum in Anno 1800. The Rum Distillery sits at the end of the Rum production chain. The Rum Distillery will take in Sugar Cane from the Sugar Cane Plantation and also Wood from the Lumberjacks Hut and turn this into barrels of Rum. Rum is a great way for you to produce income from your islands.

Your islands that have Artisans and Engineers in the Old world along with Jornaleros and Obreros in the New World pay a lot of money for Rum. Ensure that you always have a good supply of Rum in your inventory. The Rum Distillery will take 30 seconds to produce one ton of Rum from one ton of Wood and one ton of Sugar Cane. This will mean that the Rum Distillery will produce two tons a minute.


What is produced

The Rum Distillery produces Rum in Anno 1800. “Rum is a luxury need for Artisans, Engineers, Jornaleros, and Obreros, and it also serves as a lifestyle need for Workers. In terms of consumption, one ton of Rum can supply 280 Jornalero residences (or 2,800 Jornaleros). Likewise, it can support 160 Obrero residences (up to 2,800 Obreros), 75 Artisan residences (up to 2,100 Artisans), and 35 Engineer residences (up to 1,400 Engineers).

When taken on expeditions, Rum becomes even more valuable. Not only can it be used as extra rations, but it also provides +15 Medicine skill and +60 bonus Morale per 50 tons. As a result, maintaining a strong Rum supply is essential, especially since any surplus can be traded for a significant boost to your income.

Improvements

In this section we will look at what improvements can be added to the Rum Distillery to improve its productivity and efficiency. The first thing that we will look at is the placement of the Rum Distillery. When looking at the placement it is imperative that we place it close to the Sugar Cane Plantation and a Lumberjack Hut. The next thing that we can look at is adding a Trade Union that covers the Rum Distillery. “Finally, you can supply the Rum Distillery with electricity, which significantly increases its productivity. As a result, your Rum chain becomes far more efficient and easier to scale.

Placement

When we look at the placement of the Rum Distillery it is important that it is placed close to the Sugar Cane Plantation and has access to wood from the Lumberjacks Hut. In this layout we can see that it is placed next to the Sugar Cane Plantation and has easy access to wood via the Warehouse that is placed close by. Note that we don’t include a Sawmill in this layout, since the Rum Distillery requires raw Wood rather than Planks. As a result, you only need to supply basic Wood to keep production running efficiently.

Trade Union

In this section we will look at what items can be added to the Trade Union that can improve its productivity and efficiency. These items can be obtained around the map or by doing challenges. In addition, you can find them by going on expeditions or by defeating pirates. Electricity

When you reach the Engineer level, you can begin supplying buildings with electricity. Once powered, the Rum Distillery doubles its output, making the entire chain far more efficient. However, this also means the supporting buildings must increase their production to keep up, so be sure to adjust the rest of the chain accordingly.


Layouts

In this section we will be looking at some layouts for the Rum Distillery. When dealing with the layouts it is important that we cut down on the travel time between buildings in the production chain. This will mean that the Rum Distilleries are more efficient. Lets take a look at some layouts now.

Option 1

Here we have placed down a Sugar Cane Plantation and next to this we have placed a Rum Distillery. This will mean the Sugar Cane will transfer directly to the Rum Distillery in an efficient manor as this is the next building in the Rum production chain. We can also see that we have placed a Lumberjacks Hut so the Rum Distillery can receive the Wood that is required. The wood will lead into the Warehouse and then to the Rum Distillery. The Rum will then go straight back into your Warehouse and in to your inventory.

Here we can see the simple layout. This layout will produce two tons of Rum every minute. In the Old World this will supply 35 Artisans residences or up to 1050 Artisans. They can also supply 17.5 Engineer residences or up to 700 Engineers. In the New World it will supply 140 Jornaleros residences or up to 1400 Jornaleros. It could also supply 70 Obreros residences or up to 1400 Obreros.

Option 2

In this layout we will be adding an extra Rum Distillery to double the amount of Rum we produce. We will also have to double the input into the Rum Distillery. Here we can see that for this layout we now have two Rum Distilleries and two Sugar Cane Plantations

This layout will produce four tons of Rum every minute. In the Old World this will supply 70 Artisans residences or up to 2100 Artisans. They can also supply 35 Engineer residences or up to 1400 Engineers. In the New World it will supply 280 Jornaleros residences or up to 2800 Jornaleros. It could also supply 140 Obreros residences or up to 2800 Obreros.
