Description

This is the Sailing Shipyard in Anno 1800. The Sailing Shipyard is your first foray into building ships that will enable you to attack and defend your islands and others in your Anno 1800 world. The Shipyard contains five different types of ships that you will need to be able to function properly. There are also four other ships that you can obtain from doing trade deals with the pirates. The Shipyard is an essential building and will need to be used as soon as you get to worker level. Ensure that you also have a Sailmaker and a Weapons factory to enable you to build your ships for combat.


The ship details

In this section we will look at the type of ships that are available in the Sailing Shipyard in Anno 1800. These are the main five ships that are available to you when you construct the Sailing Shipyard. There are also extra ships available when you have a trade agreement with the pirates in Anno 1800.

  • Schooner – the smallest of the ships available from the sailing shipyard. The schooner is the first ship that you will most likely need to build. It is a perfect starting ship for transporting your first goods around your first couple of islands. It has two transport slots available for transporting. Do not use the schooner for travelling between areas.
  • Gunboat – the gunboat is the next ship that you will need to build. The gunboat is the first military ship that you can build. The gunboat is a fast ship that offer basic protection for your islands and trade routes.
  • Frigate – the frigate is the main military ship that you will use at this level of the game. The frigate is a main naval military ship that will protect both your trade routes and your islands from invaders.
  • Clipper – the clipper is a main transport ship. This ship is fast and can hold up to 4 items in its hold at any one time. The clipper is a fast and capable transport ship that will be used to transport your goods between different regions in your Anno 1800 world.
  • Ship of the line – the ship of the line is the largest military ship in this stage of Anno 1800. The ship of the line is a powerful but slow ship that can defend both your islands and your trade routes. The main downside with the ship of the line is that they are very expensive and are very slow.

Improvements

In this section we will look at the improvements that can be made to the Sailing Shipyard in Anno 1800. The sailing shipyard can have two types of improvements these are by placing it in a convenient location and also the sailing shipyard is also improved by the Harbourmasters office.

Placement

The sailing shipyard in Anno 1800 will have to be placed onto the coastline of your islands or linked by roads, The Sailing Shipyard needs to attached to either a trade post or a Warehouse to function. If you wish to place the the building further out in to the harbour you can link it up with a road.


Harbourmasters office

The Harbourmasters office is very similar as the Trade union. The Harbourmasters office is the Trade union of the harbour area. You will use it in the same way as you place cards into it that will increase your buildings efficiency and productivity. Their are some items available that directly effect the Sailing Shipyard in Anno 1800.

Option 1

The basic layout for the Sailing Shipyard in Anno 1800 is to basically place it on its own to the side of the rest of your buildings.

In this layout we can see that we are building three Sailing Shipyards. This is a layout that you will need if you are preparing for a military conflict. This layout is very expensive and needs a large amount of workers to build your ships.
