Description
Here is the Steelworks in Anno 1800. The Steelworks takes steel in and then turns it into steel beams. The Steelworks in Anno 1800 is a dirty factory, this means that the attractiveness level of the surrounding areas will be reduced, This will also reduce the attractiveness of your whole island.
As a large building you will have to ensure that you have a large area for placement. With a footprint of a 5×10 area it is one of the biggest buildings in the game. The Steelworks in Anno 1800 will take 45 seconds to produce one ton of steel beams from one ton of steel. With the Steelworks taking 45 seconds to make a of ton of Steel beams it is quite difficult to do the layouts efficiently.
What it produces
The Steelworks in Anno 1800 produce Steel beams from processed steel, and these beams play a major role in many construction chains throughout Anno 1800. Because Steel beams are required for a wide range of buildings and upgrades, maintaining a steady supply becomes increasingly important as your city grows.
In addition to their industrial uses, steel beams can also support your expeditions. When loaded as supplies, they provide a 15‑point bonus to crafting skill and a 15‑point morale boost for every 50 tons. It’s also worth noting that steel beams can only be produced in the Old World, so planning your logistics early on helps keep your production running smoothly.

Improvements
When looking at improving the Steelworks in Anno 1800, it is essential that you place it correctly. The next thing that you can do is to place the Steelworks in the influence range of a Trade union. You can place items in to the Trade union that can give a boost to your Steelworks. The last thing that you can do is ensure that it is covered by electricity. Electricity comes in at Engineer level so you will have to wait for a bit.
Placement
When looking at the placement of the steelworks in Anno 1800 you will need to place it either next to a Furnace for improved efficiency or next to a Warehouse. Placing it in these area’s will ensure that their is less distance to travel between buildings, so is more efficient and creates steel beams faster.

This is not a complete layout. This just shows the flow of goods from the Furnace to the Steelworks and finally onto the Warehouse.

Layouts
Here we will be looking at different layouts that increase the productivity of the Steelworks in Anno 1800.
Option 1
In this layout the Steelworks is placed next to the Furnace and a Warehouse placed next to this. This will give minimal transport time in the production of the Steel beams.

This layout produces one ton of Steel beams every 45 seconds or 1.33 tons of Steel beams every minute.
Option 2
Here we can see that the Steelworks is placed next to a Warehouse. In this layout the steel will arrive at the Steelworks from the Warehouse and then the steel beams will go directly back to the Warehouse and be available for distribution. This layout does not need to the Furnace next to it.

This layout produces one ton of steel beams every 45 seconds or 1.33 tons of steel beams every minute.
