Description

This is the Zinc Mine, and it produces Zinc in Anno 1800. To begin, you can only place it on Zinc deposits, which are found at the base of mountains on your islands. Because of this, your layout options depend entirely on where these deposits appear, which means you’ll need to build around whatever the terrain gives you.

What is produced

This is Zinc in Anno 1800, and it becomes a core resource as soon as you reach the Engineer level. To begin, Zinc is only produced in the Old World, which means you must secure reliable deposits early on. From there, Zinc becomes a key ingredient in several late game production chains, enabling you to create Glasses, Steam Motors, Gramophones, and more.

Improvements

In this section, we’ll look at the improvements you can add to the Zinc Mine to boost its efficiency and increase your overall Zinc production in Anno 1800. To begin, placement isn’t something you need to think about, because the Zinc Mine must always be built directly on Zinc deposits at the base of mountains.

With placement out of the way, the first improvement to consider is the Trade Union, which can boost any production building within its range, including the Zinc Mine depending on the items you equip.

Finally, we’ll look at how supplying the Zinc Mine with Electricity boosts its output even further and helps you keep up with rising late‑game demand.

Trade Union

The Trade Union is a building that provides powerful bonuses to any production buildings within its range. To do this, you place items into its slots, and those items apply their effects to every building inside the Trade Union’s area of influence.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the items you can add to the Trade Union that directly boost the Zinc Mine.

Electricity

When you supply the Zinc Mine with Electricity, its output immediately doubles, jumping from two tons of Zinc per minute to four tons per minute. As a result, electricity becomes one of the most effective ways to boost your Zinc production in the mid and late game.

Layouts

In this section, we’ll look at several layouts for the Zinc Mine. To begin, layouts matter because they can greatly improve how efficiently goods move into your inventory. With that in mind, let’s explore a few layout options that help you keep Zinc production flowing smoothly.

Option 1

In this layout, we start by placing the Zinc Mine directly on the deposit. Next, we add a Warehouse nearby so it can collect the Zinc as soon as it’s produced. Overall, this setup gives you the simplest and most direct way to move Zinc straight into your inventory.

This layout will produce two tons a minute that will go straight into your inventory.

Option 2

When working with the Zinc Mine, you’ll often need to send Zinc directly to the Brass Smeltery, since this is the main building that consumes Zinc in Anno 1800. In this layout, we place the Brass Smeltery right next to the Zinc Mine to keep the production chain tight and efficient. Alongside this, we add a Warehouse, which serves two important functions: it collects the Brass produced by the Brass Smeltery and delivers Copper to keep the Brass Smeltery running smoothly.
