Description
This is the Zoo in Anno 1800.It is a building that, later in the game, adds extra Attractiveness to your island, and as a result, it helps bring in more tourists. Moreover, this boost to tourism can significantly increase your income once your city reaches the mid‑game and beyond. You can place down one Zoo per island and these can give massive advantages to attractiveness of your islands. By placing down Zoo modules with an animal in, the modules will give you an instant increase to your island attractiveness level.
When you start working with modules that belong to what are known as Zoo Sets, you’ll notice that each set provides additional bonuses once you complete it. Moreover, these set bonuses can significantly increase your island’s Attractiveness and improve the overall impact of your Zoo.
A Zoo set is a group of a certain type of animal. This can range from a Farm set to a Savannah set. All of these sets provide a massive boost to your island’s Attractiveness when you place them on the same island. Moreover, completing full sets amplifies the overall bonus even further, allowing your Zoo to contribute significantly to your tourism and income.
The Zoo in Anno 1800 is a building that can massively increase the revenue for that island. “This works by placing your Zoo on an island that also has a Public Mooring facility, and as a result, you attract far more visitors. Moreover, the increase in tourism directly boosts your revenue for that island, especially once you complete multiple Zoo Sets.
Zoo Modules
These are the modules that can be used in the construction of your Zoo in Anno 1800. For the most benefit from your Zoos it is best to use all of these different modules.
Compounds – These are the places that you will place your animals. They are a key component that you will need to place down for your Zoo to flourish. Each Zoo compound costs $500 credits and 10 Influence per module. However, the Influence cost only begins to apply after you place your first ten compounds, allowing you to expand early on without penalty. Furthermore, the total Attractiveness your Zoo provides depends heavily on the rarity of the animals inside each module. As a result, rarer animals contribute far more to your island’s overall Attractiveness score.
| Animal rarity | Attractiveness |
|---|---|
| Common | 10 |
| Uncommon | 20 |
| Rare | 30 |
| Epic | 40 |
| Legendary | 50 |
This is a breakdown of the Attractiveness levels you can expect when placing animals into your Zoo in Anno 1800. Moreover, these values help you understand how each rarity tier contributes to your island’s overall appeal. As a result, you can plan your Zoo layout more effectively and maximise the tourism benefits it provides.
Pathway ornaments
Pathway ornaments are a key to the building of your Zoo in Anno 1800. They will enable a link between the modules and the Zoo. This improvement means you can place your compounds much farther away from the Zoo’s main building. Moreover, the extended reach gives you far more freedom when designing your Zoo layout, especially on islands with limited central space.
Music Pavilion
This is where you would place music sheets that will boost your Zoo and the attractiveness it generates. This requires the botanica DLC.
When planning your Zoo layouts, you need to ensure that all of your modules remain linked to the main Zoo building. Moreover, keeping every compound connected guarantees that each one contributes properly to your Zoo’s overall Attractiveness and set bonuses. The compounds that contain your animals and the Music Pavilion will need to be connected to the main Zoo building by Pathway ornaments . See below for a layout that works for the Zoo.

This layout is very compact, yet it remains highly effective. In this design, you place a basic Zoo module along with ten compound modules that will hold your animals. Moreover, the first ten modules do not cost any Influence, allowing you to expand your Zoo early without penalty. However, any modules you add beyond this point will require Influence to build, so planning ahead becomes increasingly important.
