This is the Cigar production chain in Anno 1800. It is used for the production of Cigars that are made from Tobacco in the Tobacco Plantation that is obtained from the New World and Wood Veneers that is produced in the Marquetry Workshop. These two items are then sent to the Cigar Factory for the production of Cigars. The Cigar Factory can only be built in the New World. So you will have to transport your Cigars back to the Old World if your population requires them.
What is produced
These are Cigars in Anno 1800. Cigars are a core item when you get to the later stages of the game. To get Cigars you will first need to get to the Obreros level in the New World. This means that you will have to get to Artisans level before you can go on an expedition to the New World. Cigars are a basic need of Investors and a luxury need of Obreros and Artsitas. When taking Cigars ion expeditions they will give you if bonus points to Diplomacy and also 40 bonus points to Morale per 50 tons taken.

Buildings in this chain
This is quite a simple layout and contains four different buildings to complete the production chain. The first building that you get in the chain is the Lumberjacks hut. The Lumberjacks hut will produce the Wood that needs to go to the Marquetry Workshop for the production of Wood Veneers. These Wood veneers will then go to the Cigar Factory, The second side of this production chain contains the Tobacco Plantations that the Cigar Factory needs.

Lumberjack’s Hut

In this first section we will be describing the lumberjacks hut. The lumberjacks hut will plant and harvest trees into raw wood for you. The Lumberjack’s hut will start producing Wood much quicker if the area you place the building in already has trees. If you place where there are no trees you will have to wait for them to be planted first.
To build a Lumberjack hut, you will need:
- $100 credits.
- 2 timber planks.
- a 3×3 tile space for the building, plus at least 205 tiles for the trees.
In addition to the construction costs, running a Lumberjack’s Hut also requires several ongoing resources:
- 5 farmers.
- $10 credits per minute for maintenance.
Once these conditions are met, the Lumberjack’s Hut will reliably produce four tons of wood every minute. As a result, you will have a steady supply for your production chains. Finally, this consistency helps keep your city growing without interruption.

- Function: Harvests raw wood from nearby forested tiles.
- Placement: Needs undeveloped, wooded tiles in its radius. If none exist, it will plant trees—but this takes time.
- Production Rate: 1 ton of wood every 15 seconds (4 tons per minute).
- Efficiency Tip: To keep the Lumberjack’s Hut at 100% productivity, make sure at least 205 of the 240 tiles in its radius stay free of roads or buildings. Next, ensure you have enough farmers to keep the hut staffed. As a result, both placement and workforce become key factors. Finally, by managing space and labour together, you can keep the hut running at maximum efficiency.
Marquetry Workshop

This is the Marquetry Workshop in Anno 1800. It is a production building and it becomes available when you get 750 Investors. The Marquetry Workshop can be placed on any island in the Old World or the New World. It is used for the production Wood Veneers from Wood.
To build the Marquetry Workshop you will need:
$22000 Credits
10 Timber
20 Bricks
16 Steel Beams
15 Windows
15 Reinforced Concrete
You will also need to following running costs:
-750 Maintenance
150 Engineers
When these conditions are met the Marquetry Workshop will produce one ton of Wood Veneers every minute.

- Function: Converts Wood in to Wood Veneers
- Production rate: Produces one ton per minute
- Region: Old World and New World
- Unlocks at: 750 Investors
Tobacco Plantation

This is the Tobacco Plantation that can only be placed in the New World. The Tobacco Plantation takes up a large amount of space and so you will need to find a large island to place them on or maybe over two islands depending on how many you will need. The Tobacco that is produced will then go to the Cigar Factory for the production of Cigars.
To build the Tobacco Plantation will cost you:
$7000 Credits
10 Timber
You will also need to cover the following running costs
-25 Maintenance
10 Jornaleros

- Function: Farms Tobacco.
- Production rate: 0.5 tons per minute.
- Regions: New World
- Unlocks at: 1000 Obreros
Cigar Factory

This is the Cigar Factory. It is used for the production of Cigars that are only produced in the New World. The Cigar Factory will take Wood Veneers from the Marquetry Workshop and Tobacco from the Tobacco Plantation. The Cigar Factory will take these two items and convert them into Cigars.
You will need the following to build this:
$2500 Credits
10 Timber
20 Bricks
You will also need the following running costs:
-250 Maintenance per minute
175 Obreros

- Function: To create Cigars
- Production rate: Two tons per minute
- Regions: New World
- Unlocks at:1000 Obreros
Technology Tree
This is the Tech Tree for the Cigar production chain. As we can see from the diagram below the production chain begins with a Lumberjacks hut. This will then lead into the Marquetry Workshop for the production of Wood Veneers. These Wood Veneers will then lead into the Cigar Factory. On the other side of the production chain the Tobacco Plantation will send Tobacco to the Cigar Factory.

Improving the productivity
Here we will look at the improvements that we can make to the Cigar production chain to improve it productivity and efficiency. Here we will look at what items we can add to the Trade union to improve the efficiency of the buildings in the chain.

Using Electricity
Lumberjacks hut

The Lumberjacks hut receives no bonus form Electricity.
Marquetry Workshop

When we add Electricity to the Marquetry Workshop this will double the output. This means that for this production chain it will mean that you can halve the amount of Marquetry Workshops you need.
Tobacco Plantation

The Tobacco Plantation receives no benefit when it is supplied with Electricity.
Cigar Factory

When adding Electricity to the Cigar Factory it means that the output of the Cigar Factory will double. This means that you can run the full production chain with only halve the amount of Cigar Factories that it requires.
