This is Malt in Anno 1800. It is an intermediate good that is used in the Beer Production Chain. It is an intermediate product as it needs Grain from the Grain farm to produce the Malt and then this Malt will go on to the Brewery for the production of Beer. Malt is produced at the Malthouse from Grain. The Malthouse will produce two tons of Malt from Grain every minute.

In this section we will look at trading Malt in Anno 1800.

When we look at this table we can see that when a trader comes to your harbour and purchases Malt from you they will pay you $76 Credits per ton. On the other hand when a trader comes to your harbour and sells you Malt you will have to pay $190 Credits per ton.
How to set up trading
As we can see from the table above there are two options for trading Malt. These are both for passive trading. Lets take a look at these options now.
Passive trading
Passive trading is where a trader comes to your Trade post and trades with you. To allow passive trading to work you will first have to set it up. The first thing that you will need to do is to select your Trade post on your island and you will be faced with a screen where you can select the item for trading. Once you have selected the item a new menu will open up that will show a screen showing a menu with a slider on it. Move this slider to set the minimum amount of stock to hold on this island. You will also notice that there are four buttons on this screen for the type of trade to do.

These are the buttons that you will be faced with on the trade type menu. They are No Trade, Buy and Sell, Sell or Buy. You can select these depending on what you wish to do for trade at this island. Once you have set these up traders will then trade with your island.
How to make Malt

As we can see from the diagram below you can see that we have two Grain Farms that supply Grain to the Malthouse. This then produces Malt for your Beer Production Chain. This layout will produce two tons of Malt per minute.

Here we will look at what products use Malt in their production. Malt is only used in one product that is the production of Beer.
Beer
This is the Beer Production Chain in Anno 1800.
This is the layout for the Beer Production Chain in Anno 1800. As you can see the layout for this quite a complicated layout as you will need five farms that require two different type of fertility. So the first thing that we will need to do is to place down two Grain farms. You need to ensure that the island where you are placing these has the correct fertility. Once you have Grain this will then go to the Malthouse for the production of Malt. This Malt will then go to the two Breweries for the production of Beer. The next thing that you will need to do is to place down three Hop Farms for the production of Hops. You must ensure that the island that you are placing these Hop Farms on has the correct fertility. These Hops will then lead into the two Breweries and the production of Beer will begin. This layout will produce two tons of Beer per minute
