Description

This is the Gold Mine, and it is responsible for extracting Gold Ore in Anno 1800. To begin with, Gold Mines are only found in the New World, making them a key resource unique to that region.

Next, the Gold Mine sits at the start of several important production chains, including both the Pocket Watch production chain and the Jewellery production chain. Because of this, maintaining a steady supply of Gold Ore becomes essential as your city grows.

To get started, you must place the Gold Mine directly on top of a Gold deposit, which is usually located at the base of mountain terrain. Once placed, the building begins producing immediately.

At 100% productivity, the Gold Mine generates 0.4 tons of Gold Ore per minute. Finally, you can double this output by supplying the mine with Electricity, giving you a much stronger and more reliable flow of Gold for your advanced industries.

What is produced

This is Gold Ore in Anno 1800, and it serves as a key material for several production chains. To begin with, Gold Ore can only be found in the New World, where it is mined from deposits located around the base of mountains.

Next, Gold Ore is required in two major production chains: the Pocket Watch production chain and the Jewellery production chain. Because both goods are high tier items, maintaining a steady supply of Gold Ore becomes increasingly important as your city grows.

However, when you take Gold Ore on Expeditions, it provides no bonuses, so its value is strictly industrial rather than exploratory.

Improvements

In this section, we’ll look at the different improvements you can add to boost the Gold Mine’s overall functionality. To start, we’ll cover the Trade Union and the items you can slot into it, since these provide productivity and efficiency bonuses within its influence range.

After that, we’ll move on to Electricity, which offers one of the biggest upgrades for the Gold Mine by doubling its output once it’s connected to a Power Plant.

Trade union

Here, we’ll look at the items you can add to the Trade Union and the advantages they provide to the Gold Mine. To begin with, these items can be obtained from many different places around the map, giving you plenty of opportunities to improve your mining efficiency.

For example, you can purchase useful items from NPC traders, or earn them through Quests and World Events. In addition, other gameplay activities, such as Expeditions, combat loot, or the Research Institute, can also supply valuable Trade Union items.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the specific items that benefit the Gold Mine.

Layouts

In this section, we’ll look at the layouts that work best for the Gold Mine. To start, your options are very limited, because the Gold Mine can only be placed directly on Gold Deposits in the New World.

Because of this restriction, the surrounding terrain decides what you can build around it, leaving little room for creative layouts compared to other production buildings.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the layouts that do work for the Gold Mine.

Option 1

In this layout you can see that we have place a Warehouse next to the Gold Mine so that the Gold Ore enters your inventory quickly. We can then see that there is a Trading post so that the Gold Ore can be transported back to the Old World for processing.
