Description

Here we will look at the Clockmakers. This building is responsible for the Pocket Watches production chain in Anno 1800, making it an important part of your high tier economy. In addition, the Clockmakers sits at the end of the Pocket Watch production chain.

Before it can operate, it needs a steady supply of both Gold from the Goldsmiths and Glass from the Glassmakers, which come from earlier stages in the chain. Once the building is running at 100% productivity, it produces 1.33 tons of Pocket Watches every minute. This gives you a reliable output to support your Engineers and Investors as your city grows.

What is produced

These are Pocket Watches in Anno 1800. They can only be produced in the Old World, which makes them an important part of your high‑tier economy. In addition, Pocket Watches are a luxury need for both Engineers and Investors.

One ton of Pocket Watches will supply 127 Engineer residences per minute. Furthermore, the same amount can support 63.75 Investor residences, making them essential for keeping your upper class population satisfied.

Finally, when taken on an Expedition, Pocket Watches provide strong bonuses. Every 50 tons gives +10 Navigation and +10 Morale.

Improvements

In this section we will be looking at what improvements we can make to the Clockmakers to improve its efficiency and productivity. First of all we will look at the placement of the Clockmakers to maximise its efficiency. The next section we will look at is what items we can add to the Trade Union to maximise its productivity and efficiency.

Placement

In this first section, we look at the placement of the Clockmakers. When improving buildings in Anno 1800, it is important to place each one in the most efficient spot.

For the Clockmaker, this means giving it quick access to both Gold from the Goldsmiths and Glass from the Glassmakers. These two materials are essential for producing Pocket Watches, so keeping them close reduces travel time and prevents production delays.

Therefore, we place the Clockmaker next to both the Goldsmiths and the Glassmakers. This setup ensures a steady flow of goods and keeps the Clockmaker running smoothly.

As we can see, all of these buildings are placed close together to achieve strong production levels. However, this is not the full production chain, as some of the required buildings are not included here.

What we do have are all the buildings needed for this stage of the chain, along with a Warehouse, which makes it easy for the Pocket Watches to move straight into your inventory.

This compact setup keeps everything efficient and easy to manage.

Trade union

In this section, we will look at which items you can add to the Trade Union to improve the productivity and efficiency of the Clockmakers. To begin with, Trade Union items can be found in many places across your Anno world. These include NPC traders, quests, World Fair, expeditions, and the Research Institute.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the items that work best for the Clockmakers.

Layouts

In this section we will look at what layouts we can use for the Clockmakers. Layouts are a key element when you are planning your islands. Let take a look at some of these layouts now.

Option 1

In this layout, we place three Clockmakers along with the Goldsmiths and Glassmakers they need to run. First, we set down four Goldsmiths in a line on the left side. These buildings provide all the Gold for the chain.

Next, we place the three Clockmakers down the centre. This position lets them receive Gold quickly and keeps production steady.

After that, we add the two Glassmakers needed for the layout. This gives the Clockmakers a reliable supply of Glass as well.

Finally, we include a Warehouse. This helps the finished Pocket Watches move into your inventory quickly and keeps the whole setup running smoothly.

This layout will produce enough Pocket Watches to support 510 Engineer residences, or up to 20,400 Engineers. In addition, it can supply 255 Investor residences, which equals up to 12,750 Investors.
