This is the Champagne production chain in Anno 1800. The starting point is a Sand Mine that will feed in to a Glassmakers that will produce Glass. This Glass will then go to the Champagne Cellar. The second part of this production chain is the Vineyard. The Vineyard will produce the Grapes that are required for producing the Champagne. The grapes from the Vineyard will go directly into the Champagne Cellar and combine with the Glass to make the Champagne.
What is produced
In this production chain we will be producing Champagne. Champagne is a consumer good and is consumed by two different population tiers. Champagne is a basic need of Investors and a Lifestyle need of Artistas. You can start producing Champagne when you get to the Investor tier in the game. When taking Champagne on expeditions it will give you 30 bonus points to Diplomacy and 80 bonus points to Morale per 50 tons taken.

Buildings in this chain
In this section we will be looking at what buildings are in this chain along with the costs associated with it. The first building that we will need will be the Sand Mine, this building is placed in your harbour area. The Sand Mine will produce two tons of Sand per minute. The Sand that is mined in the Sand Mine will then make its way to the Glassmakers. In this production chain we will need to place down one Glassmaker to process the Sand. The Glassmakers will produce two tons of Glass per minute. Once the Glass is produced this will then move forward to the Champagne Cellar. Next we will need to obtain Grapes for the process of making the Champagne. This is done by way of Vineyards. For this production chain we will require 4 Vineyards. When placing down a Vineyard you must ensure that the island that you are placing them on has Grape fertility. A single Vineyard will produce half a ton of Grapes per minute. This means that the four Vineyards will produce two tons of Grapes per minute. The final building in this chain is the Champagne Cellar. The Champagne Cellar will produce Champagne at the rate of two tons per minute from Glass and Grapes that we supplied to it earlier. Lets now take a closer look at each of these buildings.

Sand Mine

This production chain begins with a Sand Mine. The Sand Mine is placed in the Harbour area and can be placed in an Harbour area. becomes available at the Artisan level and you require 1 Artisan to unlock it. The Sand Mine is the First Factory in the Glass Production Chain which you will need for the first item for the production of Glass.
To build a Sand Mine it will cost you:
- $2000 Credits
- 6 Timber
- 5 Bricks
In addition to the construction costs you will also need to account for the following ongoing costs:
- 25 Workers
- – $120 credits per minute in Maintenance
Once you have met these conditions the Sand Mine will then produce two tons of Sand per minute. So your Glassmakers will have a steady flow of Sand for the production of Glass.

- Function: Harvests sand from the coastline.
- Placement: Needs free coastline.
- Production Rate: Two ton of sand per minute.
- Efficiency tip: To keep the Sand mine at 100% productivity ensure you have enough free coastline. Next, ensure you have enough Workers to work the mine.
Glassmakers

The Glassmaker is the next step in the production of Glass in Anno 1800, turning raw sand into glass. Glass is a crucial mid game material, and you’ll rely on it not only for producing bottles for Champagne, but also for items like Glasses, Light bulbs, once you reach engineer level and several advanced industrial goods.
To begin with, the Glassmaker takes in sand from your Sand Mines and produces glass. As a result, it becomes the central link between your coastal extraction and your more advanced manufacturing buildings.
To build a Glassmaker you will need the following:
- $5400 credits
- 6 timber
- 10 bricks
- 8 steel beams
- 4×4 free tile space.
As well as the above cost and materials you will also need the following ongoing items:
- 100 Artisans
- $100 credits per minute for maintenance.
Once these costs and materials are set the Glassmaker will reliably produce two tons of glass per minute. As a result, you will have a steady supply of glass for your Champagne Cellar in Anno 1800.

- Function: To turn the harvested sand in to glass.
- Placement: The glassmaker can be placed anywhere on your island, although ideally it should be placed near to the Sand Mine to cut down on transfer times.
- Production Rate: Produces two tons of glass per minute.
- Efficiency tip: To keep the Glassmaker at 100% you need to ensure you have a steady supply of sand and enough Artisans to work the factory.
Vineyard

The Vineyard produces Grapes that are a key step in the Champagne production chain. The Vineyard will reliably produce one ton of Grapes every two minutes. In the standard game Grapes are only used for Champagne. The Vineyard become available when you have a Investor and then you can start your production of Champagne. You will need to ensure that the island that you are placing the Vineyards has Grape fertility.
To build the Vineyard you will need:
- $8000 Credits
- 10 Timber
- Area 3×4 (you will also need room for 128 fields)
You will also need to have these running costs:
- -200 Credits per minute for Maintenance
- 10 Farmers
Once you have met these requirements you will then be able to produce Grapes for your Champagne production.
- Function: grow Grapes
- Production rate : 0.5 tons per minute
- Limitations: can only be placed on islands with Grape fertility.
- Regions: Old World
- Unlocks at: 1 Investor
Champagne Cellar

This is the Champagne Cellar. It is used for the production of Champagne and requires both Glass and Grapes to produce the Champagne. The Champagne Cellar will create Champagne at the rate of two tons per minute. It is located at the end of the Champagne production chain.
To build the Champagne Cellar will cost you:
- $35000 Credits
- 10 Timber
- 20 Bricks
- 16 Steel Beams
- 15 Windows
- 15 Reinforced Concrete
You will also need these running costs:
- 150 Artisans
- -1000 Credits per minute in Maintenance
Once you have met these requirements then the Champagne Cellar will reliably produce two tons of Champagne per minute.

- Function: To produce Champagne
- Production rate: Two tons per minute
- Regions: Old World
- Unlocks at: 1 Investor
Tech Tree
This is the Tech Tree for producing Champagne in Anno 1800. As you can see from the Tech Tree the buildings that are needed for this production chain. As you can see from this diagram it is quite a simple layout and the only sticking point is that you will need four Vineyards that will take up a large area on your islands. As you can see you will need to place a Sand Mine down in a harbour area. This will then lead into a Glassmakers. This Glass will then go into the Champagne Cellar. You will also have your Vineyards producing Grapes that will go into the Champagne Cellar and then your Champagne will be produced.

Layout
This is a layout for the Champagne production chain. As we can see this is quite a complex layout. So lets start at the placement of the Vineyards. The Vineyards will need to be placed on an island that has Grape fertility, if the island that you are building the Champagne Cellar on does not have this the you will have to transport your Grapes by boat from the other island. The next thing that we will need to do is to place down a Sand Mine that leads either directly into a Glassmakers or a Warehouse for transportation of the Sand to the Glassmakers. Finally we have the Champagne Cellar that will take the Glass and the Grapes and convert these into Champagne.

Improving the productivity
When at this level you will be able to use the Trade union. The Trade union is a building that can add improvements to the buildings in its influence range. You must note that any buildings that you wish to have covered by the Trade union can only be covered by one at a time.

Here we have a layout that covers each of your buildings with a Trade union. The Trade unions do not overlap and so buildings are only covered by one Trade union each.

Using Electricity
Sand Mine

The Sand Mine when supplied with Electricity will instantly double its output. As their is no input for the Sand Mine this is a direct doubling with no prior effect.
Glassmakers

When the Glassmakers is supplied with Electricity it will instantly double the output. You must ensure that the input is doubled as well. To achieve this you can either place down another Sand Mine or you can ensure that the Sand Mine has Electricity also.
Vineyard

The Vineyard has no benefit when supplied with Electricity.
Champagne Celllar

When you supply Electricity to the Champagne Cellar you will notice the output will double. You must ensure that you double the previous buildings so that the Champagne Cellar can function at this increased capacity.
