Description

This is the Bicycle Factory, and it is responsible for producing Penny Farthings in Anno 1800. It sits at the very end of the Penny Farthing production chain, turning raw materials into the final luxury good.

To keep the factory running at full speed, you’ll need a steady supply of four tons of Caoutchouc and four tons of Steel from the Steel production chain per minute. Once these inputs are supplied, the factory begins producing four tons of Penny Farthings per minute. As a result, you’ll have a steady and reliable output to support your higher‑tier population.

Improvements

In this section we will look at what improvements we can make to the Bicycle factory. The first thing improvement that we will look at is the placement. The placement is a key improvement that can be made to any building as having good placement means that the flow of goods is optimized. The second thing that we will do is look at what items we can add to the Trade union to improve the production of Penny Farthings in Anno 1800.

Placement

In this section we will be looking at the placement of the Bicycle factory. For the production of Penny Farthings it is important that the factory has access to Steel as this is a core ingredient of Penny Farthings in Anno 1800. It is also important that the island that produces Penny Farthings can accept a steady flow of ships from the New World. This is because the Caoutchouc will have to be delivered from the New World.

As we can see from this placement of the Bicycle factory we have placed a Warehouse close by so that it can receive Caoutchouc in a timely manner. We can also see the Trading post that will have the Caoutchouc delivered to the island. We can also see the Furnace close by for the delivery of Steel to the Bicycle factory.

Layouts

In this section we will look at what layouts we can use for the Bicycle factory. Lets take a look at some layouts for the Bicycle factory. In these layouts we will be looking at the supply into the Bicycle factory and also the finished product leaving the factory.

Option 1

In this layout we can see that we have one Bicycle factory. This is supplied by two furnaces that will enable it to run at 100% productivity. The Trading Post is there to bring the Caoutchouc from the New World. To keep this running at 100% you will require four Caoutchouc plantations in the New World and also have good delivery to the Old World.

This layout will produce enough for 160 Engineers residences or up to 6400 Engineers. It could also supply 80 Investors residences or up to 4000 Investors.

Option 2

In this layout we will be doubling the output from the Bicycle Factory. Here we can see that their are two Bicycle Factories, we have also doubled the furnaces to four. You must also double your Caoutchouc plantations to eight. You must also remember that you will need to have enough ships transporting Caoutchouc back from the New World. Lets take a look at this now.

This layout will produce enough for 320 Engineers residences or up to 12800 Engineers. It could also supply 160 Investors residences or up to 8000 Investors.
