Description
The Brass Smeltery is used to produce Brass in Anno 1800, and it becomes a core material later in the game. To start with, it sits at the centre of several important production chains. These include the Glasses production chain, Steam Motors production chain, and Gramophone production chain, along with a few others.
For the Brass Smeltery to operate, it needs both Copper and Zinc. These resources must come from nearby Copper Mines, Zinc Mines or from a Warehouse placed close enough to supply them efficiently.
Once running, the Brass Smeltery produces one ton of Brass per minute. This steady output makes it a key building in keeping your mid‑ and late‑game industries moving.
What is produced
Brass in Anno 1800 is a core material that you will rely on throughout the game. It appears in several important production chains, and you’ll need it to progress into the mid‑ and late‑game stages.
In addition, Brass in Anno 1800 provides useful bonuses during expeditions. Every 50 tons you bring gives +15 Crafting points and +30 Morale, making it a valuable support item when preparing for tougher encounters.
Improvements

The closer the Brass Smeltery is to the Copper Mine and Zinc MIne it needs, the faster the entire production chain will run.

Electricity
When Electricity is added to the Brass Smeltery, its output immediately doubles. This boost makes the building far more efficient and greatly increases your production of Brass in Anno 1800.
However, this increase also means you must double the input of both Zinc and Copper. Otherwise the Smeltery will slow down and drop below 100% efficiency.
Layouts

Option 1
In this layout, we can see that the Brass Smeltery is placed close to a Warehouse. This ensures it receives both Zinc and Copper quickly, allowing it to produce Brass without delays. In addition, the nearby Warehouse speeds up output, moving the finished Brass into your inventory as fast as possible and keeping the entire production chain efficient.
Option 2
In this layout, we can see that the Brass Smeltery is placed close to a Zinc Mine, while it receives Copper from a nearby Warehouse. This setup keeps the Zinc supply fast and direct, while still ensuring the Smeltery gets the Copper it needs without delay.
In addition, this layout is flexible. You can easily reverse it and place the Smeltery near a Copper Mine instead, depending on which resource is more convenient on your island.
